Hello Curve Unit members and those who want to ride with them. I met my first Curve Unit member at the wall. She pulled in on a 636. As soon as she pulled in the younger riders all gravitated towards her. They all seemed to have something urgent to discuss with her. Phil and I just watched from a distance. If we were twenty years younger there would certainly be some aspect of riding that only she would have an answer to. When she decided it was time to move on, she headed straight for us. She extended her hand and said “ Hi, I’m Letty”. Suddenly my mind was flooded with motorcycle questions. Is that your Cow-e or your boyfriend’s? Did you buy it or do strangers just give you things? What’s that logo on your back ? Do you prefer to ride with older men? She was so easy to talk to. Then it happened. My turrets kicked in and I started shouting “you lair” after every comment she made. Fortunately she found this amusing and laughed it off. When she rode off I said to Phil “ That woman is fucking beautiful and I think she has a screw loose”. Phil asked why? Why would a woman that good looking come over and talk to you? He just nodded.

Riding up to the wall after that was never the same. Instead of pushing my riding skills to new limits all I could do is wonder if she would be there again. A few weeks latter she pulled in again with Sabrina. They were friendly and answered questions for awhile, then rode off. Once they were out of sight I realized I hadn’t asked the big question. Could I ever ride with them? I tried to catch up with them but went wide on a turn. I wasn’t hurt too bad. A guy I work and ride with suggested my CU handle, taking in account my last three years of riding. I never saw Letty at the wall again. I couldn’t remember what the logo was. Googling didn’t help. Curves, good curves, big curves, hot curves, lots of curves, curves to the left, fast curves, tight downhill curves, curvies. There was another word but I would have never guessed it. A guy at the wall told me what it was. So I tried every combination of unit and curve I could think of and here I am.

My name is Randy Von Gogh. I’m not one of the fastest riders on the road. Unfortunately I can’t stay on the road. I’m a full time auto mechanic during the day and a male escort at night. I mean part-time automotive instructor at night. I live with two dogs and four cats. I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was fifteen. That was forty years ago. If you do the math right you’ll figure out I’m the oldest person on this forum. Sure it bothers me. I really enjoyed riding with the Unit last weekend up to Woodland. It really was for a good cause, my need to be around women motorcycle riders. Seriously, I thought it was so sad when the seventeen year old patient thought she was being misunderstood when she said she wouldn’t have the time to be there next year. It is a good cause and I plan to be back.

I plan to start doing track days soon. Well as soon as my five fucking year divorce is over. I’m not bitter just broke. Fortunately I can retire next year and spend more time riding. With Curve Unit whenever possible. I love riding with you. You were all so friendly. If I were a woman I would join. I’m a guy so I’ll just appreciate the chance to ride with you. I always tell other female riders to check your site out. It’s become a great come on line. Ride safe and read Friction Zone, CrashDummy

Thanks Brian. Were you one of the guys that rode to Woodland with us? See how welcome they make you feel? Were you on the Ride 4 kids last Sunday? I don’t think us guys that never met before said a word to each other. We smiled and nodded back and forth during the ride. I guess we all had the same thought, this is fun. I hope to get to know each member better and feel as strong about them as you do. Next time I see you I'll actually say something. Randy

Mandy, thank you again for helping me out so fast. I wish you worked out of the other store so I could say hi to you every time I went in to buy something. CrashDummy, Thanks to you.

Nope, wasn't me. I haven't met you yet. I couldn't make the last couple of rides, but I'm almost always on all the others. I'm sure I'll run into ya at the next one. ;)
